“The era has arrived where AI-designed semiconductors drive the next generation of AI.”

At the 'Seoul Forum 2025' held at the Shilla Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 28th, Professor Cha In-hyeok of the AI Policy and Strategy Graduate School at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) attended a panel discussion titled 'Brain Revolution: The Era of Generative AI Led by GPT' and said, "Only some companies like Samsung Electronics are utilizing AI in semiconductor design, and compared to foreign companies, Korea's generative AI and infrastructure costs are incomparable." Recently, generative AI is being directly applied to the design of next-generation AI semiconductors. AI is designing the foundation for more powerful AI on its own, and the role of human engineers is gradually decreasing. The subject of technology development is shifting from humans to AI.

Professor Cha emphasized, "Consumers may think of AI and Chat GPT as mere toys, but they are already changing corporate management and the entire industrial structure." In fact, Amazon has introduced 'algorithm management' in which AI algorithms monitor and evaluate employees' work performance in real time and decide on changes in assignments or even dismissals based on the results. Performance evaluations are conducted regularly, not once every half year or year. AI optimizes employees’ performance in real time and even changes jobs when necessary. In the process, employees who do not meet the standards are laid off. Professor Cha explains that we could return to the past when all workers were monitored in real time and had to do all tasks like machines.
